The new version of Tumblr is now live. I'm still going through the new dashboard, and getting a feel for the new changes and features.

So, what do you think about the new look and features?

Channels seems great, I need to play a bit more with them
Finally we have Textile!
AOL IM Integration... I guess I should use iChat more!
The new theme editor is amazing!

- The new Channels feature is interesting. I'm curious to see how people are going to use it. I'll have to mess around with it when I have more time.
- I'm loving the new theme editor too. It's going to make it even easier to make on-the-fly changes to my tumblelog's theme/layout now that the "live preview" is more prominent.
- The addition of the new "audio post" option is something I know a lot of people were wishing for and I'm sure I'll be using myself.
- Posting via IM's is cool but I'm not sure I'll be taking advantage of that feature very much.

Once I get more time to mess around with everything I'll share some more thoughts. ...One thing I am noticing is that the site seems like it's taking a little while to load. Perhaps their still tweaking things.

There is a "Show advanced options" menu now when you edit a post. TAGS AND PRIVACY settings therein! Two features I was hoping for showed up in v3.

Also, they announced an API for third party developers. This is very intriguing. Imagine all the things will come of this.

From what I saw in the Share on Tumblr window, I'm happy the addition of a few things.

I was having the same issue for a little while. I kept getting a timeout error when trying to load the dashboard. It seems to be back again for the time being.

The channels thing is nice. Might be a good way to import to Facebook through notes or something.

I'm not a big fan of the audio tool yet. Uploading? I'd rather just reference a file somewhere else on the internet with a link back to it. Though, that might cause some copyright issues for our friends at Tumblr, Inc.

Site keeps going up and down, which is fine by me, I'm sure it's getting hammered today.

I'll have to play around with it a bit more later today, but my initial thoughts on the new dashboard design are positive.

Yeah. I agree about audio and copyright. Wouldn't want to bring any bad heat down on Tumblr, Inc thats for sure.

I'm not a big fan of the 5MB file limit either. Before this audio feature was added I would just use the video embed option to embed an audio player right in. It would be nifty if they made a combined embed feature that would allow you to specify whether the object you wish to embed is either audio or video accordingly.
